ERSTE-SPARINVEST: The first choice for your investments

ERSTE-SPARINVEST was founded in 1965 and is the number-one source for your personal investment funds in line with the Austrian Investment Fund Act.
With over 45 years spent building deep, long-lasting relationships with customers, partners and employees, ERSTE-SPARINVEST stands for experience, innovation and quality. Our activities are characterised by the special care we take in all investment processes, by our sustainable thinking and investing, and by the fact that we discern interesting trends and incorporate them into our funds.

ERSTE-SPARINVEST is backed by the financial strength of Erste Group Bank AG and the Austrian Sparkassen group. Erste Group is one of the largest financial service providers in Central Europe, with 17.5 million customers. We have around 150 employees who serve our customers and sales partners in Austria and other markets throughout Europe. Our funds are registered for sale in Austria as well as in Germany, Italy, Croatia, Romania, Switzerland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, the Czech Republic and Hungary.

ERSTE-SPARINVEST KAG's shareholder structure is composed as follows:
81.42% Erste Asset Management
15.71% Various Austrian Sparkassen
2.87% DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale

New market leader in Austria

In 2009, Erste Group reorganised its activities in fund and asset management in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe: Erste Asset Management GmbH comprises ten companies with assets under management totalling EUR 36.2 billion (as of 31 December 2009).

ERSTE-SPARINVEST has the largest volume of assets under management within Erste Asset Management. In January 2010, ERSTE-SPARINVEST gained the leading position on the market (with a market share of 19.9%) for the first time, with a total of EUR 27.4 billion in assets under management according to Oesterreichische Kontrollbanks statistics from 29 January 2010. Of its assets under management, EUR 11.21 billion are in funds for large-scale investors and special-purpose funds, and EUR 16.16 billion are in retail funds. ERSTE-SPARINVEST has been the market leader in retail funds for many years and has increased its market share in this segment to nearly 25% over the last three years.

Now the "number two" among large-scale investors

The company has also seen a clear upward trend among institutional investors. ERSTE-SPARINVEST took second place in OeKB's ranking of assets under management in funds for large-scale investors/special-purpose funds. This means that it was able to overtake its long-standing second-place competitor for the first time (at least as far back as the statistics go) at the end of December 2009.

Core competences: bond funds, emerging markets and sustainable investments

ERSTE-SPARINVEST's funds cover a wide array of investment vehicles. The company manages the funds itself for the most part, but we also cooperate with international investment companies, which makes us well connected to the international world of finance. We possess special expertise in bond funds, emerging market funds (with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe) and sustainable investment funds.

The focuses of ERSTE-SPARINVEST's fund management lie in:
  • Fund and asset management for private investors and institutional investors
  • Asset allocation strategies (funds with absolute yield targets and benchmark-oriented funds)
  • Bond management with a focus on the Eurozone (everything from money market funds to high-yield funds)
  • Equity and bond funds with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe
  • Funds managed according to ethical/sustainable principles (SRI)
  • Portfolio management
  • Local specialities (local Central and Eastern European funds, tax-optimised products, special mandates)
  • A comprehensive range of products for private investors

Awards to grow by

International rating agencies such as Lipper, Morningstar and Feri Trust assess ERSTE-SPARINVEST's fund management performance each year. In 2008, we received the Lipper Fund Award for the "Best Fund Company in All Classes". This award was based on an assessment of the performance of a total of 150 international fund companies. Together with the consulting firm Prof. Homburg & Partner, the rating agency Telos selected ERSTE-SPARINVEST as the top asset manager in Germany. The basis for this decision was a survey of over 300 institutional investors, who rated 90 international asset managers. ERSTE-SPARINVEST also made its mark at the Funds Europe Business Awards 2008 in London, where we were conferred with the award for the "Socially Responsible Investment Programme of the Year".

Fully committed to transparency and quality

ERSTE-SPARINVEST also underwent an assessment of the company as a whole by the international rating agency RCP Partner, and it was rated "very good" (AA-). Since 2003, ERSTE-SPARINVEST has had one more "performance diploma" under its belt: The auditing firm Deloitte & Touche assessed and confirmed the company's compliance with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS), which guarantees investors uniform, fair and comparable reporting on performance and full disclosure on a company-wide basis.
